I do almost all my own work because I want
to as well as need to. I’ve been
going to do a page like this for quite some time and will try to add many other DIY stuff of mine ASAP
I’ve had several people ask about my trim
indicators so I’ll start with those.
I needed more dash
space as I was redoing the entire thing. I needed more gages as well as an
updated look.
I used my standard Kiekhaefer trim tab and drive indicator cables. The
big square gage was eliminated and I used only the cables and the cable mount/holder.
The rest found a place on my spare parts shelf. A
mock up was first made.
These were mounted inside the
dash. After a test fit and marking, the dash was cut at the top for the sticks.
We also made a bezel to fit around the openings.
The factory cables and holders
are reused and our sticks are screwed onto them
I’ve sourced a place to make the indicators at a
reasonable price and we chose a clear acrylic material with the ability to
light them up from beneath.
A small LED was placed below to
light up with the gages. I’m going to brighten this up with a second light.
We can make the sticks in any
color or style and even have a glow in the dark version available.
They can also be solid two color
material like you see in name plates in many colors.
The dash bezel can also be made
in any color or shape. Oval shown.
They are very affordable at $80 dollars for any style as shown.
